On Sunday Mr Louis Grocke died at
the residence of Mr F. Herde, hie son-in-law.
The deceased came to the colony in
1840 in the Danish ship George. For
many years he lived at Rowland's Flat,
where he had a farm, and for over 20
years kept the post-office. He had resided
here with Mr Herde for 15 years,
and was 84 years of age. He was
greatly respected, and a large number
attended the funeral on Tuesday afternoon.

Quorn, October 19. — Yesterday the
remains of Louis Grocke were interred in tbe
Quorn Cemetery, Mr. Altmann officiating at
the grave. Mr. Grocke came out to the colony
in 1840 in the Danish ship George and first
settled at Hackney. Subsequently be resided
at Rowland's Flat, where be was postmaster
for a number of years. He leaves a son, three
daughters, and a number of grand and great
grandchildren. Deceased waa 83 years of age
and a resident in the colony of 54 years
standing.
