MRS PAUL SPAETH
Mrs Paul Spaeth (n

This he coupledwith an admirable meekness ofspirit. After their marriage thecouple lived in Moppa for someyears, then they carved their wayin virgin scrub on the West Coast, only to incur heart-breaking disap-pointment, due mainly to poor wa-ter supply. Leaving, they trekkedper buggy and cart to Pt Augus-ta. where Mr. Spaeth worked onthe East-West line: then they mo-ved to Wilmington, where theytook up land on the Pinda Plains,They milked up to 36 cows andreared calves, in addition to grow-ing wheat—and saw a run of goodyears. They later settled in Ade-laide, where for a time they hada dairy. In state of trials and illhealth, Mrs Spaeth showed tirelessindustry. The family comprisesBert, Pt. Augusta; Vera, Wilming-ton; Ron, West Coast; Arthur, ofWilmington; Norman, Dorrien; andKath., Adelaide.
