OBITUARYAn old and respected resident ofHahndorf, Mr. Franz Wilhelm Dahl,79, died recently. He was born atHahndorf, and was educated at theHhndorf College, under Mr. Boehm,and later under Mr. Schtreng. He wasapprenticed to the smithing tradeunder the late Mr. Haebich, and laterto the carpentering trade, under hisfather-in-law, the late Mr. Faehr-mann, which trade he followed up toa few years ago, both at Hahndorf andPinnaroo and Murrayville diistrict. Mr.Dahl was very fond of music and inthe earlier days was conductor of theHahndorf Brass Band, and also a re-gular player in the Pinnaroo Band.Having a fine bass voice, he was asso-ciated with the Hahndorf Liedertafel,and was one of several who were in-vited to sing with the Adelaide Lieder-tafel on the occasion of the visit of]the late King George V. (then Dukeof York) to Adelaide. He was a keenrifle shot and was always a familiarfigure at tne various Kingship riflematches. Of his first marriage therewere eight children. Messrs. C. A. In 1915 he losthis first wife after a short illness, andin 1917 he married Miss Florence Dayof Echunga. of which union there isone daughter, Mrs. E. Ahrens, of Hahndorf.
