41578A LADY'S LETTER
The death in Melbourne on Wed-
nesday night of Miss Olive Mengler,
who had lived for 18 years or more
in Kalgoorlie, will be regretted by
a large circle of friends on the gold-
fields. Miss Mengler had worked
with her brother, Mr. Gus. Mengler,
formerly of Watson's Produce
Stores, during almost the whole of
his proprietorship, and three years
ago accompanied her parents to
Perth, where she entered the Pub-
lic Hospital, and was in her second
year as a probationer when her
health broke down. A month ago
her brother sent her to Melbourne
in company with her sister, Miss
Ida Mengler, to undergo an opera-
tion, and it was while preparing for
this in the institution that she ex-
pired. Her mother had reached
Adelaide, on the way to Melbourne,
and Mr. Gus. Mengler was about
to leave when the news of the death
was telegraphed from Melbourne.
The late Miss Mengler, who was in
her 29th year, while in Kalgoorlie
was a valued member of St. An-
drew's Presbyterion Church choir,
and a teacher in the Sunday school.
She was the sister of Messrs. Gus.
and Harry Mengler, Miss Bertha
Mengler, and Mrs. Bailey, of Geraldton.
