46276The Late Rev. J. C. Maschmedt.— The
remains of the late pastor of the Pirie-street
German Church were interred in the Payneham
Cemetery on Thursday afternoon. The cortege
was one of the longest ever seen at Stepney,
where the deceased had resided for the last few
years. At the graveover 300 persons, including
almost the whole congregation of the late
pastor, and many residents of Stockwell,
Eudunda, and Gawler, were assembled to pay
a last tribute of respect to one so dear to them.
A large number of other German colonists,
including the Lutheran pastor of Adelaide
(the Rev. C Dorsch) were also present. The
Revs. Niquet, Braun, and Dranz conducted
the service in the house and at the grave.
