Mr. Albert Bussenschutt, whose death oc-
curred at Prospect recently, was for many
years a prominent agriculturist on Yorke
Peninsula. He was born at Salisbury in
1857, being tho elder son of Mr.
H. Bussenschutt, a pioneer of tlie early
days of South Australia. When a lad he
was engaged by a neighboring farmer to
work at a wage of 8/ a week. Mr, Bus-
senschutt was by nature industrious and
thrifty. When he was 23 years old
he, in partnership with Mr. John Keen,
decided to try his fortune at scrub farm-
ing, and the pair secured a scrub block
of land in the hundred of Cunningham.
In the course of a few years, by mutual
consent, this partnership was dissolved,
and Mr. Bussenschutt invested in a farm
near Port Clinton, which by dint of energy
and good management he made one of the
show holdings of the district. The im-
petus given to the Clydesdale stock by
careful selection and breeding by Mr. Bus-
senschutt proved of material value to the
district. In 1885 Mr. Busseuschutt ma-
ried Miss Louisa Weise, 0f Port Gawler,
who died seven years ago. After
disposing of the Clinton property
the family moved to Gawler, where
Mr. Bussenschutt farmed successfully for a
few years. Eventually acquiring a com-
petence, he relinquished active agricul-
tural pursuits and secured a property at
Prospect, where he lived till his decease.
The family consists of one son. Albert, and
three daughters — Misses Louisa and Elsie
and Mrs. H. B. Moyse— all of Prospect
Messrs. J. H. Bussenschutt. Claremont
farm, Paskeviile, and William Bussen-
schutt, Kadina, are brothers of the de
ceased.
