Dr. Wilhelm Eberhard.
Dr. Wilhelm Eberhard, probably the
oldest resident in the Tanunda district,
passed away on Sunday morning after a
short illness. Having had his breakfast
as usual, be told his housekeeper that he
would not any longer take the medicine
which was prescribed for him, and shortly
after he fell down and expired. The de
ceased. who came from Braunschweig, in
the Province of Hanover, was in his eighty- ,
eighth year. In 1848 he arrived in this |
State with his brother, who predeceased
him a few years ago. Dr. Eberhard re
sided at Tanunda during the whole of his
time as a medical practitioner. He was
appointed lodge surgeon about 1870. and
held that position for over 25 years, to I
the satisfaction of all the brethren. He
retired from his profession. 15 years ago.
Two years ago Mrs. Eberhard died at the
age of 92, shortlv after the celebration of |
their golden wedding.
