June 4.-Mrs. Johanne Christiane Ebert,.
who died on Thursday, had reached the age
of 91 years and 12 days. She was the
mother of our well-known townsman, Mr.
A. Pfeiffer, of Messrs. Pfeiffer & Sons,
chaff merchants, &c. The deceased was
bom in Priebus, Germany, on May 16, 1812,
and married Mr. Gottfried Pfeiffer in
1834, but the union was of short duration,
as in the year 1840 she was left a widow.
In 1842 she married Mr. Johann Freidrich
Wilhelm Ebert, with whom she came to
South Australia, arriving here in 1848.
Their first home in the colony was at
Light's Pass, whence they removed to Wal-
ton, Daveyston, and Stockwell. At the last
named place she resided till three years
ago, when her husband died. Since then
she had lived at Eudunda with her son, Mr.
Pfeiffer. She has left three sons, two daugh-
ters, 27 grandchildren, and 25 great-grand-
children. Pastor T. Nickel officiated at
the grave.
