Mr. Hermann Arthur Liebich, who
died at Nuriootpa on Sunday after-
noon. July 8, at the age of 67 years,
was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. J.
F. W. Liebich, of Nuriootpa. Born at
Nuriootpa on August 16. 1866, Mr. Lie-
birch spent the whole of his life in the
town. On February 21, 1895, he
married Miss Maria Louisa Dittrich.
Having learnt his trade as a mason
thoroughly, lie launched out in busi-
ness on bis own account after his
marriage. A large number of fine
buildings bad been constructed by Mr.
Uebich, among them being the Sol-
diers' Memorial Hall at Nuriootpa. Ce-
ment tanks were a speciality, many
wineries having tanks which, after
years of use, are still a credit to his
workmanship. At the age of 42 years
he contracted double pneumonia, which
robbed him of bis strength and weak-
ened his heart. He was a trustee of
St. Peter's Church, Nuriootpa, for 19
years. The remains were interred in
the Nuriootpa Cemetery. A widow and
two sons and five daughters survive.
One son died at the age of 21, and one
daughter died in infancy. Those
surviving are Messrs- Fred and Arthur
Liebich (Nuriootpa), Mrs. Falland
(Stockwell), Mrs. O. Kretschmer (Nu
riootpa), Mrs. J. Lehmann (Tanunda),
and Misses Teresa (Girlie) Liebich and
Clarice Liebich, of Nuriootpa. There
are five grandsons and one grand
daughter.
