Mr. Peter Shearer, who died on Wednes-day at Clarence Park, at the age of 75years, was the last of another pioneeringfamily. He arrived in South Australia72 years ago from the Orkney Islands, Scot-land. He spent the greater portion of hislife in the north, but had lived latterly inAdelaide. Like many other pioneers hevisited the Ballarat goldfields in the early'fifties of last century. He has left awidow, nine sons—Messrs. R. J., J. A., P.P., H. G., H. S., Elliot L., and F. C.Shearer (Adelaide), Mr. W. G. Shearer(Sydney), and Mr. Edward L. Shearer(Victoria)—and five daughters—MesdamesE. E. Baldwin and J. P. Lomman (Ade-laide), Miss M. V. Shearer (Sydney), andMiss A. B. Shearer (Adelaide); and 24grandchildren.
