OBITUARY
Mrs. Elizabeth Stoeckel, wife of MrLudwig Theodore Stoeckel, of Queen'sReach, Murthoo, died on Tuesday,April 2. at the advanced age of 80years. Though of so great an age,Mrs Stoeckel's death was not antici-pated by her husband or sons, as evenso late as Sunday last the deceasedlady seemed to be in the enjoyment ofgood health. Sunday evening, however, she became unwell, and after abad night and morning, she experienced a sudden stroke from which shenever rallied. From 2 p.m. on.Mon-.day. till 2 p.m. on Tuesday she remained in a state of stupor, and thenpassed quietly away. Mrs Stoeckelwas born in Brunswick, Germany, in1827, and emigrated, with a marriedsister, to South Australia in 1848, inihe revolutionary times when manygood Germans were leaving theFatherland for the sake of gainingreligious freedom. Mr. Stoeckel,who survives, was a passenger by thesame boat, and the two were marriedshortly afrer arrival in Adelaide. MrWilliam Stoeckel, of Paringa, andMessrs Fred and Richard Stoeckel, ofMurthoo, are sons of the deceased,who has left also a number of grandchildren to mourn their loss. Thefuneral took place yesterday morningat Murthoo, Mr J. F. Dunstan officiating at the grave.
