The death occurred on Wednesday,
at the age of 80 years, of Mr. Thomas
Geor
ge Edwards, of Manton-streetHindmarsh. Mr. Edwards, who wasborn at Underdale, found responsibilitythrown on his shoulders at an early age, owing to the death of hisfather. When 13 be began work cart-ing wood by means of a bullock team.For the greater part of his life he wasemployed as a pit sawyer and farmworker, his occupation necessitating agreat deal of travelling, and he waswell known in most of the townshipsin the lower half of the State. In 1874he married Miss Matilda Schubert, ofAngas Park, near Angaston. For manyyears he lived at Mannum, but in 1889he purchased a home at Thebarton,where Mrs. Edwards lived until herdeath in 1917. Mr. Edwards was for 37years a member of the HindmarshChristian Church. He leaves two sons—Messrs. M. S. Edwards (Kooringa)and S. Edwards (Hindmarsh)—andseven daughters - Mesdames D. Hay-thorpe (Mannum). W. Clements(Chicago), R. Wyld (Mornington), L.H. Foote (New Hindmarsh), J. May(Hindmarsh), J. A. May (Hindmarsh)and E. Pfennig (Wilgena).
