SMITHAM-
HILL.-On the 28th March, at
Trinity Church, Adelaide, by the Rev. George
Dove. William Smitham, only son of Mr. Samuel
Smitham, farmer, of Peachey Belt, to Miss Sarah
Jane Nowell, only daughter of Mr. William Hill,
farmer, of the same place.

64713PENFIELD, August 4.-Mr. William
Smîtham, who was an old and highly re-
spected resident, died at his residence at
Penfield on Monday at the age of 74. He
was the oldest resident, having lived here
over 54 years. He came to the State with
his parents in the Constance in 1850, and
went to the Victorian gold-diggings with
his father in the following year. In 1855
he settled here with his parents, and
started farming. In 1861 he married the
only daughter of the late Mr. W. Hill, of
Penfield, at Trinity Church. About two
years ago be had a paralytic stroke, and
had never enjoyed good health since. He
was a native of Cornwall. His widow and
six sons and six daughters survive, also
23 grandchildren.
