ObituaryCENTENARIAN'S DEATH.Referring to the death of Mrs. Dumesny, reported in our last issue, ourVectis East correspondent sends thefollowing: It is with regret that I haveto report the death of one of the oldestresidents of the district in the personof Mrs. Louisa Pauline Dumesny, relictof the late Johann Gustav Dumesny,who passed away at the residence of'her daughter, Mrs. Jahn, at Quantong,on Monday afternoon, at 3 o'clock. Shewas born in Berlin on January 4, 1820,and had reached the remarkable age of101 years 9 months and 13 days. Sheemigrated to Australia and landed inAdelaide in 1849, and had been a resident of Australia for 72 years. On October 28, 1849, she married her late hus-band at Klemsig, near Adelaide, andfive years later they came to Victoriaand settled in the Ararat district, wherefor a long time the husband carried ona market garden. In the year 1880they came to the Wimmnera district,where they remained to the end. Mr.Dumesny predeceased his wife by 13years. Since that time Mrs. Dumesnyhad lived with her daughter at Quantong. The cause of death was pronoun-ced as senility and heart trouble. Ofthe family of four sons and two daughters one son and one daughter havedied. There are 32 grandchildrcen and33 great grandchildren: five grandchildren and one great grandchild have died.The remains of deceased were interredin the Quantong cemetery on Thursday,Pastor Noack officiating. The coffinbearers were Messrs O. Maroske, F. J.Koenig, E. S. Lemm, E. Zerbst, C. Lindner and J. A. Hoffmann.
