Mr. George Herbert Carrison
Mr. George Herbert Carrison, of
Port MacDonnell, who died in the
Mount Gambier Hospital on Tuesday.
April 28, was a son of the late Adam
and Elizabeth Carrison, and he was
born at Port Fairy on March 2, 1867.
He was thus 75 years of age. Prior
to his death he had been In ill health
for about six months.
When he was ten months old his
parents left Port Fairy for Port Mac-
Donnell, and he resided there for the
remainder of his life. As a young
man he worked for Messrs. Edward
French and. Son, who in the early days
of Port MacDonnell conducted a busi-
ness as shipping agents; and later he
managed the stores for the firm.
He was the youngest son of a family
of eight; four of his brothers and two
sisters predeceased him. Mr. John
Games Carrison survives him.
As a young man the late Mr. Carri-
son took a keen interest in all move-
ments for the benefit of the town. He
was a keen cricketer, and a member of
the lifeboat crew.
On 22nd July, 1891, he was married
at Mount Gambier to Miss Annie
Christine Thompson, who survives
him. They had a family of seven-six
sons and one daughter. The sons are
Conrad G., Suttontown; Claud A.,
Adelaide; Reginald A., Port Mac-
Donnell; Sydney C:, a prisoner of war
as far as is known. Albert W. and
Meldrum P. predeceased their father.
The daughter is Mrs. D. Judd, Pros-
pect, Adelaide. He was a Justice of
the Peace. His remains were in
terred in the Port MacDonnell Ceme-
tery on April 29. The Rev. R. W. Neal
conducted the funeral service, and Mr.
Ern James carried out the burial
arrangements.
