An old resident of the district, John
Samuel Heinrich Kiefel, died at Lah-
arum on Friday. The deceased, who
was born in Germany, was 84 years
of age. He came to Australia as a
young man, and had lived in South
Australia for eight years and in Vic-
toria for 50 years. He left the follow-
ing children :—Paulina, Ronald, Gustav,
Traggot, Mary, Henry, Ernest, Amil,
and Florence. The funeral took place
on Sunday to the Green Lake ceme-
tery, the burial service being read by
Mr. C. Rennison. The pall-bearers were
Messrs. G. Knanogel, S. Gross, J.
McTavish, J. Baudinette, W. Voigt, and
C. Hardigan, Messrs. Oulton and
Boyle were the undertakers.
