70195The death of Mr. Frederick John
Eichler took place at 504 Blende St.,
Broken Hill, on December 12th. Mr.
Eichler was a well-known identity of
the Burra. He arrived there with his

Mine; then as a whim-boy, afterwards
as an underground miner. Mr. Eichler
had a wonderful fund of information
concerning the old associations and work
on the old Burra Mine, and was al-
ways ready and delighted to talk about
the "old days." He was present at the
"Back to Burra Week," where he met
and conversed with many of his old
friends. Mr. Eichler came to Broken
Hill in 1893, after spending some time
at Terowie and Thackaringa. He
leaves a widow and a grown-up family.
His age was 79. Mr. Eichler was twice
married ; his first wife was a daughter
of John Robertson Gray, of Burra.
