Mrs. W. S. Heithersay, who died at her
residence, Henley Beach-road, after a brief
illness, at the age of 73 years, was an old
and respected colonist. She arrived in South
Australia in 1851, and was married in 1853.
Her husband, who survives her, was a State
school teacher for over 30 years, but re-
tired a few years ago, after having had
charge of the schools at Hamilton, Tothill's
Belt, Marrabel, and Yongala. The sons
now surviving are Mr. William Heithersay,
formerly Mayor of Petersburg, Mr. John
Heithersay, well known in mining circles,
Mr. Robert Heithersay of Petersburg, and
Mr. James Sinclair Heithersay of Albany,
West Australia, who is at present in Ade-
laide. The daughters are Mrs. Alford, wife
of Mr. J. W. G. Alford, of this city and
one time Mayor of Petersburg, Mrs. Wurm,
wife of Mr. F. H. Wurm of Temple Cham-
bers and Mrs. Cheek, wife of Mr. A. A.
Cheek, of Albany, West Australia. The
deceased lady was universally esteemed in
the various districts in which she lived for
her whole-hearted kindness, more especially
to the sick.
