Mrs. Dettmer Dead
An old Pirie resident passed away at
Laura Hospital after eight weeks' ill-
ness in the person of Mrs. Augusta
Christina Anna Dettmer. Mrs. Dettmer
was born at Schwan, in Germany, in
1857, and came to Australia 51 years ago.
She came to reside in Pirie.
Here she at one time owned Rohrs-
heim's old bakery on Main road, Solo-
montown, and other shops in that
quarter. Mrs. Dettmer left Pirie to
reside at Wirrabara in 1927, and after a
short period there she went for a holi-
day, accompanied by Mrs. C. Meschke,
of Pirie, to Europe, visiting Germany,
Belgium, and England. She returned to
Wirrabara, where she led a retired life
until her death. She was naturalised in
January, 1893.
In 1878 Mrs. Dettmer, then known as
Miss Augusta Fien, married the late Mr.
August Carl Dettmer, who died eight
years ago. The two children of the mar
riage are:-Mrs. C. H. Zwar (Wirrabara)
and Mr. R. C. Dettmer (Melbourne, and
formerly of Pirie).
Pastor W. Roehrs officiated at the
funeral yesterday and Messrs. E. L,
Hollett, R. Passaw, W. Goodman, W.
H. Stevens, W. Jackson, and H. Rohrs
heim bore the coffin to the grave.
Wreaths and other floral tributes were
sent by:-Mr. and Mrs. W. Mackey and
family, Mr. and Mrs. A. Meschke and
family, and Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Rohrs-
heim.
