oi the West Coast, Mr. James
Telfer,
died at Port Lincoln. He was born in
Roxburghshire on August 12 1829. and
came to South Australia in 1854. He
worked for the late Messrs. A. B. Murray
and J. H. Angas, and went to Port
Lincoln in 1859, taking over the man-
agement of the well-known Koppio estate,
owned by the late Dr.
John Harris
Browne. He retired from that position in
1900. Mr.
Telfer was one of the oldest
members of the Port Lincoln Oddfellows'
Lodge, and among the oldest trustees of
the institute. He was a justice of the
peace and a member of the Licensing
Bench for many years. Mrs.
Telfer died
28 years ago. There are two sons— Messrs.
James
Telfer (Portana) and J. K. Tel-
fer (Big Swamp), and three daughters—
Mrs. Andrew Watherstone (Port Lincoln),
Mrs.. E. J. Barraud (Lipson), and Mrs.
Telfer (Port Lincoln). There are 17
grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
