73609The death of Mrs. Mary Jane Allen, at
the age of 82, which occurred on October
7, has removed a pioneer colonist, who
had resided in South Australia for 64
years. Mrs. Allen had been twice mar-
ried, her first husband being the late Dr.
Alexander Sieffert, of Angaston. She had
a wide circle of friends and was highly
respected. She had been a sufferer for
many years, as the result of an accident.
She was the daughter of Mr. Richard
Paddock, who is well remembered in the
Gawler district. She was a native of
Shropshire, and formed one of a numerous
family. She accompanied her parents to
Australia 64 years ago. Two brothers sur-
vive her, Mr. R. D. Paddock, of Nairne;
and Mr. John Paddock, of Victoria.
