73629Mrs. W. A. Hamp, who died last week,
at Eastwood, was a daughter of the late
Mr. Richard -Paddock, of Houlston Hall,
Shropshire, She arrived with her parents
in the ship Caroline, in 1851, and the
family settled at Weyford Springs, near
Tanunda, where her father was engaged for
many years in agricultural pursuits. She
was married at Sheaoak Log, in February,
1865. Two of her sons predeceased her.
The youngest, Lance-Corporal Hamp, was
killed in the battle of Graspan, South
Africa, while rescuing a Gordon High
lander. She left five daughters and one
son (Mr. W. E. Hamp, of Port Pirie).
