79433 A FATAL FALL.—The City Coroner held an
enquiry at the E
lephant and Castle Hotel onWednesday ftlterroon into the cause ofthe death of Henry Schutt, who fell froma building, and as the result of his injuriesdied on the previous afternoon.Schutt, according to the evidence, waspainting a house for his uncle, JamesMarrett, at Hilton, on Tuesday morning.He was sitting on the sill of a window about15 feet from the ground, with his legs inside.Suddenly he was seen to throw up his arms,and after swaying once or twice to fall. Mr.Marrett, who was immediately below, suc-ceeded slightly in breaking the fall, so thatSchutt instead of falling on to his head fellwith his face to the ground. He was immediately!picked up and removed to town. Dr.Hamilton saw him, and ordered his removalto the Hospital. On the way there hehad a fit. When the surgeon on dutyexamined him, immediately on arrival, Schuttwas dead. Dr. Hamilton afterwards madea post mortem examination, and found thebase of the skull fractured. The cause ofdeath was shock consequent upon the fractureof the skull. The verdict of the Jurywas in accordance with the doctor's evi-dence. Schutt, who was 43 years of age,leaves a wife and seven children, of whomthe eldest is 11 years of age.
