MR. DONALD FARQUHAR.
Adelaide, Monday.
The late Mr. Donald Farquhar, mana-
ger of the South Australian Flour Mills
in Broken Hill (whose death was re-
ported in the First Edition of to-day's
Miner), had gone for a trip in the
steamer Rupara round Spencer's Gulf,
for the benefit of his health. During
the first part of the trip Mr. Farquhar
enjoyed good health and spirits, and
between Wallaroo and Tumby Bay his
condition became rather serious, but on
arrival in Adelaide yesterday morning
his health improved again somewhat.
He, however, took a very bad turn late
last night, and Dr. Bartley called in
Dr. Verco for consultation. Dr. Verco
decided that an immediate operation was
necessary, and Mr. Farquhar was re-
moved to a private hospital, where an
operation was performed. The cause of the
trouble was perforation of an ulcer in
the bowel close to the stomach. The
patient gradually sank, and died at
a quarter to 6 this morning.
