81059CAPTAIN T. H. HERITAGE.
Captain Thomas Henry Heritage died at
the home of his daughter, Mrs. T. B.
Carter, Semaphore, on Thursday. He was
born at Peckham Rye, near London, and
was 89 years of ago. He came to Port
Adelaide in 1854 as a deck boy on the
brig Harry, and joined the coastal ser-
vice at the age of 14, continuing at sea
for practically his whole life, as he re
tired only seven years ' ago, about the
time of the death of his wife. He was
fond of yachting, and won many trophies
for Mr. O'Halloran. Football, cricket, and
racing claimed his attentions. Many
ketches which are now stationed at Port
Adelaide were owned by him. He had
been a member of the Foresters' Order
for the past 70 years. He left 117 descen-
dants. Surviving children are: — Messrs.
Harry Heritage (Semaphore), George Heri-
tage (Semaphore), James Heritage (Bir-
kenhead), and William Heritage (Sema-
phore), and Mesdames J. M. Tuit (North
Adelaide), W. Germein (Sandwell), and
T. B. Carter (Semaphore). There are 41
grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, be-
sides great-great-grandchildren.
