Mr, Lars Emill Lange, who died
it Narrogin Hospital, WA. was one
of the pioneers of Yorke Penin-
sula. and later of the Western Aus-
tralian mallee. A native of Saus-
berg. Norway, he was born on Sep-
tember 18. 1849, and settled In
South Australia in 1867, and after
gaining a little experience he took
up virgin land at Cunningham. He
was a pioneer of the stumpy ground
and one of the first to use a scrub
roller. Later he purchased a farm
at Arthurton. In 1875 he married
Emily Sarah, daughter of Joseph
Allen, of Anama. He went to
Western Australia In 1906. He
had a married life of 66 years and
passed away on his wife's 82nd
birthday He leaves a widow,
five sons. Sidney (Pingelly).
Charles (Arthurton, SA), Arthur
(Pingelly), George (East Popin-
yinning), and Ernest (Pingelly),
and six daughter. Mesdames H
Noble (Arthurton. SA), Page (Pin-
gelly). G. Lobban (Cannington,
WA), G. Henville (Subiaco), A.
Walton (Kulin. WA), Hughes
(Boulder). There are 49 grand-
children and 44 great-grandchild-
ren. C. J. Allen, of Brinkworth,
Geo. Ailen, of Moonta, and J. H.
Allen, of Arthurton, are surviving
brothers-in-law.
