Here on Honeymoon Trip
Rev. H. F. Roehrs, whose silver wed
ding: was reported in last issue, is the
eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs C.
Roehrs, of I.angeloh, Hanover, Ger-
many; whilst Mrs Roelirs was Miss Al-
wine Auguste, youngest daughter of
the late Mr and M rs E. Schwanewedel,
of Padinghuettel, Hanover. Rev.
Roehrs began studying at Hermanns-
burg, Germany; and then, intending
to minister in U.S.A., completed his
theological studies at St. Paul Luther-
an Seminary, Minnesota.
Here he accepted a call to serve at
Bethany, S.A., after his ordination,
which look place on March 23, 1913,
after which he hurried back to the
homeland. He married Miss Schwane-
wedel at Padinghuettel on July 8, 1913,
Pastor R. Weber officiating. A week
later the couple started for South Aus-
tralia, gaining a fortnight by taking
the train through the Alps and Italy
so as to join the ship at Genoa. On
August 20, after five weeks at sea, they
landed at Port Adelaide, and the Rev.
Roehrs was ordained at Bethany on
August 31.
The voyage formed their honeymoon
trip, for they had planned to re-visit
Germany after five years; Mrs Roehrs'
parents, and Rev. Roehrs' mother, be-
ing then alive. The war intervened,
however, and as their parents passed
on, the visit was never made. For the
actual wedding anniversary on July 8,
Bethany and Sohoenborn friends gave
the couple a pleasant surprise evening,
with supper hy the ladies at close.
