Mrs. Emma Harmer, of Blyth, who
died at her home on August
27 in her 100th year, was the eld
erdaughter of the late James and PhoebeBunnett and was born at Cambridge-shire, England, in March, 1838. Shecame to South Australia with her par-ents in the ship Steadfast, which ar-rived at Port Adelaide in November,1852. Her parents settled in the Mt.Barker district, and her fatherafterwards kept the Lord Nel-son Hotel at Wistow until about1875 (this hotel has been closed formore than 60 years). In 1863 at HolyTrinity church, Adelaide, she was mar-ried to Mr. James Harmer, and theylived near Wellington and after-wards at Mount Barker, andin 1872 moved to Clare, where her hus-band was engaged in a carrying busi-ness. In 1882 they took up farmingnear Blyth, where they lived until Mr.Harmer's death in 1898. Mrs.Harmer leased her property andwent into the township to live35 years ago. The present Harmer-ville school was built on land given byher late husband. Mrs. Harmer leftfour sons and one daughter:—Messrs.John Harmer, of Hopetoun (Victoria);J. E. Harmer, of Kilburn, S.A.; S. E.Harmer, of Port Pirie; B. H. Harmer,of Blyth; and Mrs. D. Leyson, of Ka-dina. There are also 49 grandchil-dren, 49 great grandchildren, and twogreat great grandchildren.
