born at Mt Barker and was a daught-
er of the late Mr
and Mrs J. Brady.When a girl, accompanied by her sis-ter, she has walked from Mt Barkerto Adelaide, a distance of twentyeight miles, carrying eggs and butterto market returning the following daywith their groceries. She also livedat Callington and could recall whenthe mines were working there. InI885 she married Robert Turvey ofMilang They lived at Bruce, whereher husband carried on a butcheringbusiness for some time and was alsoemployed by the S.A. Railways formore than twenty years. In 1910Mr Turvey took up land in the HdMiltalie, Franklin Harbour. After anumber of years he disposed of thisproperty and came to Kimba district,where he also had a farm. After afew years he decided to retire andlive in Kimba. Mr Turvey predeceased her by eight years Sixsons and five- daughters survive, viz.,Messrs Edgar, Perce, Tom, Laurie,Les. Roy, and Evelyn (Mrs H.Schmidt, Gordon), Pearl (Mrs ClarkKimba), Jessie (Mrs L. Grund,Kimba, Violet (Mrs C. Colliver,Kimba). Sylvia (Mrs R. Council,W. A).
