The late Mrs Margaret Turvey
The death occurred at Kimba hos
pital recently of Mrs Margaret Tur
vey at the age of 87 years. She was
born at Mt Barker and was a daught-
er of the late Mr and Mrs J. Brady.
When a girl, accompanied by her sis-
ter, she has walked from Mt Barker
to Adelaide, a distance of twenty
eight miles, carrying eggs and butter
to market returning the following day
with their groceries. She also lived
at Callington and could recall when
the mines were working there. In
I885 she married Robert Turvey of
Milang They lived at Bruce, where
her husband carried on a butchering
business for some time and was also
employed by the S.A. Railways for
more than twenty years. In 1910
Mr Turvey took up land in the Hd
Miltalie, Franklin Harbour. After a
number of years he disposed of this
property and came to Kimba district,
where he also had a farm. After a
few years he decided to retire and
live in Kimba. Mr Turvey pre
deceased her by eight years Six
sons and five- daughters survive, viz.,
Messrs Edgar, Perce, Tom, Laurie,
Les. Roy, and Evelyn (Mrs H.
Schmidt, Gordon), Pearl (Mrs Clark
Kimba), Jessie (Mrs L. Grund,
Kimba, Violet (Mrs C. Colliver,
Kimba). Sylvia (Mrs R. Council,
W. A).
