FATAL. ACCIDENT.-On Saturday last Mr. C.Haseloff, teacher, of Schon field, accompanied byhis wife, drove over to Tanunda to bid farewellto some friend there, as he was intending to re-move to Hoyleton. In returning home he hadreached Freeling, and was passing over thecrossing, when the wheel of his spring-cart cameinto contact with the post at the corner, causingthe vehicle to be capsized, Mr. Haseloff wasthrown out by the violence of the jerk a distanceof twenty-four feet, on to some new metal. Mrs.Haseloff was also thrown out, but escaped with abroken collar-bone, and is now going on as wellas can be expected. Mr. Haseloff's injuriesproved to be of a much more serious character, concussion of the brain having been sustained. The sufferers were both removed to the FreelingHotel, where every attention was paid them byMr. Elsholz, Drs. Popham and Renner wereat once summoned, who, however, gave but slighthopes of the recovery of Mr. Haseloff, who, infact, never reoovered consciousness, but afterlingering until 3 a.m. on Tuesday, died. Thefuneral took place on Wednesday. At noon theprocession, numbering over forty vehicles, leftthe Freeling Hotel for the cemetery at Schonfeld." On arrival there," says a correspondent, " thecoffin was placed in the schoolroom, where thedeceased had labored hard for eleven years to dothe best for the children placed under hiĀ« care. The Rev. Mr. Roediger conducted the funeralservice after which Dr. Muecke addressed theassemblage in an impressive manner, recapitulat-ing with what love and sacrifice their friend hadincessantly worked for the welfare of the risinggeneration; and exhorting them to show theirsincere love by assisting heartily in the movementto be initiated, viz., to raise subscriptions for thepoor helpless widow and orphans. The path fromthe schoolroom to the grave was strewed withflowers, boughs, and evergreens, and the graveitself was covered with wreaths made by theschoolchildren.-I understand that on their return from the funeral to Freeling, the followinggentlemen formed themselves into a committee, with power to add to their number, in order tocollect subscriptions as suggested by the Rev. Mr.Roediger and Doctor Muecke :-Messrs. Young(Freeling), Kaiser (Lyndoch), Becker (Daveyston)Schutz (Concordia), and Pagenrticher (New Meck-lenburg)
