Death of a Pioneer Colonist.—Thefriends of Mr John Inglis, of Pine Forest, will hear with sincere regret of his death onTuesday afternoon, at the ripe age of 69.Nearly three years ago he had a paralyticstroke, and since then had been in a weakstate of health. On Friday evening last MrInglis was prostrated by a second attack, whioh resulted in apoplexy, and from that henever rallied. Tbe deceased gentleman, whoarrived in this colony in the ship Fairfield in1839 at the age of 14, was for many yearsassociated with the Hon. A. B. Murray inpastoral pursuits oa the Adelaide Plains. In common with most colonists he wasattracted to the Victorian goldfields earlyin the fifties. On his return to this colonyhe began farming in the Woodside district, and subsequently removed to Kapunda, where he took up a large area of country. There he remained for 15 years, when hissons secured land on Yorke's Peninsula, andafterwards Mr Inglis joined them. Later onthey selected land in the Hundred of Wiltangawhere Mr Inglis and his family havelived for the past seven years. He was aman of keen observation and varied resource—a self-reliant, determined worker; thehead of his family in its truest sense; aworthy neighbour; ' and a colonist enjoyingthe esteem of that large circle of friendswhom he had acquired during 55 years ofcolonial life. Like a patriarch of old, JohnInglis has gone, down to his grave full of yearsand honour, leaving to his children theinvaluable heritage of a good name and aworthy record. The funeral procession will'pass throngh Kadina at 2.30 this afternoon,en route to the Kadina Cemetery.
