DEATH OF MR.

G. BAUM
The death occurred yesterday of
Mr. George August Baum, well
known South Broken Hill identity.
Born at Callington, South Austra-
lia, 75 years ago, he had lived here
for about 59 years. Five years ago
he retired from the South mine,
where he had been employed for
46 years. He was a member of the
W.I.U. of A., the Pensioners' Asso-
ciation, and the Alma Sporting
Club. Mr. Baum is survived by a
widow and a grown-up family of
four sons (Messrs. Edward, Fred,
Alf and Charles) and four daugh-
ters Mesdames J. Blake. P. Daly,
C. E. Peterson and W. Varcoe).
Only recently Mr. and Mrs. Baum
celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary. The funeral took
place this afternoon at 4 o'clock,
the cortege leaving his residence,
25 Wilson Street, for the General
Cemetery. Rev. W. Traeger offi-
ciated. Fred J. Potter & Son had
charge of the funeral.
