Mr. Isaac Poulton, who died

the age of 86 years, was one of
the old pioneers and the last of
the station hands, of Glencoe, a
district which he left more pros-
perous than he found it.
The late Mr. Poulton was born
at 15 Robert Street, Plumstead,
Kent, England, in December 1861.
As a lad he was employed in
Woolwich Arsenal, England. At
the age of 18 he came to Austra-
lia, and gained his first colonial
experience in Queensland and
Victoria. He then settled in the
South-East, and was employed by
Messrs. Leake Bros, and later on
Messrs. Riddoch's Glencoe Sta-
tion.
He was responsible for the
presentation of a petition to Par-
liament which resulted in the in-
troduction of the first working
men's blocks, which were then
limited to 20 acres per man. On
one of these he built his home 50
years ago.
On June 30, 1889; Mr. Poulton
was married to Miss Caroline
Feast, who predeceased him five
years ago. Children of the union
who are living are George Alfred,
Gertrude Irene (Mrs. Anderson),

Barbara (Mrs. Koch), all of Ade-
laide; Edward Griffiths, Wood-
side; and Rex Harold, Glencoe
East. One daughter, Olive Maud,

viving brothers and sisters are
not known.
