20320Mrs. M. Bubner
Mrs. Marianna Bubner, 87. who died
recently at Dublin, was one of the
oldest residents of the district. She.
was born at Warben, in Germany,
and when eight years old came to
South Australia with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Christian Kschammer,
in the ship Victoria, the voyage tak-
ing 20 weeks. With them also was
her grandmother, Mrs. Christanna
Kschammer, -who lived to 103 years.
On arrival at Port Adelaide in Feb-
ruary 1858, Mrs. Bubner’s parents
were met by Mr. Mattas Modra, who
conveyed them in a German waggon
to his father's farm near Gawler.
Subsequently her father found em-
ployment with Mr. Holland on pro-
perty which is the present Rosedale
Experimental Farm. In March, 1867,
she was married at Rosenthal (now
Rosedale) by Pastor Dost to Mr.
Johann Bubner. For a few years her
husband found employment in the
Barossa and Sandy Creek districts
before settling in Dublin in May,
1873. Here Mr. and Mis. Bubner
took up land and made their home.
Mrs. Bubner was a supporter of the
Methodist Church. Her husband died
14 years ago. Four sons and two
daughters survive — Messrs. W. J.
Bubner, West Coast; J. Bubner,
Salisbury; K. J. and R. A. Bubner,
of Dublin; Mrs. Caurse, Prospect;
and Miss Selma Bubner, Dublin. Two
sons, Messrs. Albert and Gustave Bub-
ner, are dead. In addition there are
29 grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren.
