Mr. Johann Gottlieb Gerlach, who
died at Point Pass on August 1, was
one of the first settlers in that dis
trict in 1868. He was bom in Ger-
many in 1850, and came to Australia
with his parents, who lived at Gouen-
berg and Flaxman's Valley. In
1876 he married Miss Auguste Marie
Riedel, who died in 1901, In 1903 he
contracted a second marriage with
Mrs. W. J. Geisler, nee Traeger, who
survives him. Mr. Gerlach spent the
last few months of his life with his
son, Mr. C. Geriach, The surviving
children are:—Messrs. J. F. C. Ger-
lach. Point Pass; J. H. Gerlach,
Glenelg; J. E. Gerlach. Gawler; and
Mrs. H. Kloshe, Point Pass. There are
12 grandchildren.
