30030SUDDEN DEATH.- An awfully sudden death
occurred on Saturday afternoon, Mr John
Lehmann, farmer, of Yahl, was driving into
town with his wife, and when about half way
on the journey was observed to swoon and fall
back on his seat in the buggy. Before any
thing could be done for him he was dead ; he
had not even time to utter a word to his wife,
Mrs. Lehmann drove him home and sent for Dr.
Powell, who had been attending him occasion-
ally for some time, When the doctor went
out he found Mr, Lehmann quite dead, and
gave a certificate that the cause of death was
heart disease, for which complaint the doctor
had treated deceased for several months, The
deceased, who was 86 years of age, was an old
resident of the district. He settled At Mount
Gambier early in 1858, and since then had been
farming in the district on different farms, He
acquired the farm at Yahl in I860, and con-
tinned to reside up until the end. His family
consists of six sons and two daughters, all of
whom are grown up and settled in the
Wimmera District of Victoria, The funeral
of the late Mr, Lehmann yesterday was num-
erously attended, The Rev, Mr, Matschoss
conducted the obsequies.
