-Death-
A few days ago another well known
resident, in the person of Emil Aug
ust Theodor Alm, passed away at the
age of 55 years. The deceased was
born on December 31, 1850, in Ros-
tock, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Ger-
many. After having passed through
the training college in Rostock, he
spent over seven years at sea. In
August, 1876, he arrived in Sydney,
and from there he came with a small
coasting steamer to Adelaide. The de-
ceased journeyed to near Tanunda,
and he has remained here ever since,
carrying on as a farmer. Mr. Alm
was initiated as a member of the
G.U.O.O.F., Tanunda Lodge, in 1878,
he having gone through the chairs
several times. He was also a trustee,
which position he only resigned about
twelve months ago on account of ill
health and prior to this he hardlv
missed a lodge night. The deceased
has been one of the most ardent
workers of the order, having propos
ed something like 30 members, and
on one occasion he proposed eight in
one night, which record is still un-
beaten. A widow, three sons, two
daughters, and one brother (Mr. L.
Alm, of Tanunda) survive. The funeral
took place on Friday, and was one
of the largest seen here for some
years.
