37388Another of the old pioneers of the
Wimmera district has joined the great
majority in the person of Mr Carl Gott-
fried Liersch. aged 82 years, his death
having occurred at his home at Corom-
by on Sunday, June 29. after an ill-
ness extending over a period of 14
months, Deceased was born at Tweed-
vale, South Australia, on 5th October,
1848. At the age of I8 he left Tweed-
vale for Mount Gambier, sojourning at
the latter place for a period of five
years. He then came over to Victoria,
and after selecting land at Coromby in
1873 he was married at Minyip in 1877
to Miss Louisa Krause. rearing a family
of three sons and. one daughter. viz..
Messrs August, (Bangerang), Henry,
Ernest and Miss Ida (Coromby), to
whom and his wife the deepest sym-
patihy is extended in their sad bereave-
ment. He was one of the earliest set-
tlers in the district.
