DEATH OF OLD COLONISTS.
Virginia, June 27.
An old colonist, Mr. William Tregeagle,
passed away on Su
nday at the residence ofhis son-in-law, Mr. James Roberts, of thisneighborhood, after a long illness. He ar-rived in the State with his parents onFebruary 6, 1840, in the ship Java. Hewas 72 years at the time of his death. Mostof the time he lived at Teatree Gully, Hevisited the Victorian diggings at the timeof the rush in 1852, and did very well.His wife predeceased him by nearly 28years. He left three sons and threedaughters— Mr. Edward Tregeagle, of Teatree Gully: Mr. O. Tregeagle, of BrokenHill; Mrs. S. E. Phillips, Teatree Gully;Mrs. J. Roberts, of Virginia; and Mrs. G.E. Clifton, of Houghton— and ten grandchildren. He was fond of the violin, beingknown among his old friends and acquaint-ances as the fiddler.
