53711MOUNT PLEASANT, May 4.
Much surprise and regret were expressed when
it became known on Tuesday morning that Mr.
William Stockwell who, for the last seventeen
years had been ostler at the Talunga Hotel, had
been found dead in his bedroom. He went to
bed on Monday night about 10.30 apparently in
the best of health, and as be did not appear m
the morning his room was entered, and he was
found dead upon the floor, having apparently got
out of bed. Dr. Proctor was called, and said
the cause of death was an apoplectic fit. Mr.
Giles J.P., after enquiries by the police, deemed
an inquest unnecessary. The deceased was a
respectable, quiet, and steady man, and was
esteemed by all. Many commercial travellers
will learn of his death with regret, as he was a
general favorite amongst them. The deceased
was 54 years old, and a widower, but leaves a
large family, most of whom are grown up.
