LAWSON.—On the 7th May, at her residence,
"Santo," 20 Barker street. Prospect. Johanne
Elonora, loving wife of the late Paul Lawson,
of Wirrabara, in her 80th year (suddenly),
loving mother of Jean, Em, Bertha, Hilda, and
Harrold.

Mrs. Johanne Eleonora Lawson,
widow of Mr. Paul Lawson, who died
recently at her residence, 'Santo,'
Barker-street, Prospect, was in her
80th year. She had seen pioneering
in the far north, and in 1872 she went
to Euro Bluff and Yadnamulka sta
tions with her husband and infant
daughter. She often spoke of the
loneliness, of the bush. In 1873 she
went to 'the hundred of Appila, near
Wirrabara, where her husband selected
land. The country was in its wild
native state, and house, outbuildings,
and fences had to be erected. This
property later became known as 'Santo

Vale,' where Mr. Paul Lawson's Dor
set Horn stud was widely known. Mrs.
Lawson lived there for 40 years. She
was of a most kindly disposition, al-
ways ready to help the sick and poor,
by whom she will long be remembered.
For the past 15 years she had resided
at Prospect. Six children gvew up.
The eldest (Mrs. A. Fuller) died in
1912, and she leaves four daughters
and one son — Mesdames C. Swinden
(Prospect), A. H. Wallace (Prospect),
C. HolUtt (Wirrabara), H. R. Kelly
(Wirrabara), and Mr. P. Harrold Law
son (Prospect). There are 18 grand
children and eight greatgrandchil-
dren.
