Mrs. J. Duffield
Mrs. Jemima Duffield, who died re
cently at her home. Crystal Brook, at
the age of 79, was born at Mount Bar
ker Springs, and was the third daugh
ter of the late Mr. John Hamlyn. In
the early seventies her parents farmed
in the Crystal Brook district. At Koo-
lunga, in 1878, she married Mr. J. A.
Duffleld, and during 1879 she accom-
panied her husband, who took up land
in the hundred of Palmer, 18 miles
from Quorn, remaining there six years.
They returned to Crystal Brook, and
in 1892 worked a holding in the hun
dred of Port Pirie, and retired in 1919
to live in Crystal Brook. Mrs. Duffield
helped at the official luncheon at the
first Crystal Brook show, held in 1874.
Mr. Duffield died 20 years ago. There
were 11 in the family, and eight sur
vive.' They are Messrs. A. Duffield, Wes
tern Australia; J. A. Duffleld, Ungarra,
West Coast; W. R. Duffield, Crystal
Brook; Mrs. E. Munday, Barraba; Mrs.
P. T. Vanstone, Cummins, West Coast;
Misses A. E. and E. Duffield, Crystal
Brook. Two sisters are Mrs. Daniels
(Mount Barker) and Mrs. Clarke (Chel-
tenham). There are 14 grandchildren.
