FATAL ACCIDENT
Gambierton, November 19.
John Plate, a well-known farmer, died last
night from injuries he received through a fall
from his horse on Wednesday last. The deceased
was under the influence of drink at the time

30214DEATH OF MR. JOHN PLATE.-We regret
to record the death of Mr. John Plate, farmer,
which occurred at his residence, B.B. Flat, on
Monday morning. As already reported, the
deceased, on Wednesday evening last, sustained
a fall from his horse on the road opposite the
Church of England Parsonage, and was shortly
afterwards removed to the Hospital in an
unconscious state, Next day he some-
what revived, and in the evening was taken to
his home, and no serious results were appre-
hended. Deceased, however, relapsed into an
unconscious state with short intervals of partial
consciousness, and continued so until he died.
Mr. Plate has been largely engaged in farming
and business pursuits here for the last 14 years,
and was of an enterprising disposition. He was
much respected. He leaves a wife and 13
children. He was in tho 53rd year of his age.
His funeral takes place to-day at 2 p.m.
