Mr. F. S. Tiedemann, an old' colonist,
died at Balhannah on July 17 at the age
of 89 years 6 months. He was born in
Neudenburg, Germany, and arrived in
South Australia in March, 1850. He and
his wife, whom he married 65 years ago,
went to reside at Black Forest. He went
to the Victorian diggings and was fairly
successful, after which he settled at Bal-
hannah. He was a hale and hearty man
for his years. He left a widow, one son
(Mr. Gustav Tiedemann, of Balhannah),
one daughter (Mrs. J. Scott Lawson, of
Victoria), 12 grandchildren, and four great
grandchildren survive him.
