The death occurred at Norwood re-
cently of Mrs. Mary Anne Heaslip, re
lict of David Heaslip, of Gladstone, at
the age of 95. Gladstone's oldest resi-
dent, she was born at Willunga on
August 1, [1884], being a daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. S. Paris. Mrs.
Heaslip was educated at Burton's pri
vate school, Saddleworth, and later at
Riverton. She went to live at Bow
man's station, near Crystal Brook,
where she remained for about five
years. She married Mr. David Heaslip
at Mintaro, and lived at Booyoolie
station, Gladstone. After a few
years Mr. and Mrs. Heaslip returned
to Crystal Brook station, where they
lived during the 1866 drought. In
1872 they settled in the Gladstone dis
trict, and took up land at Hughes Gap,
when the northern areas were opened
up. After eight years at Hughes Gap
they settled at Gladstone, and a few
years later, owing to ill-health, Mi-.
Heaslip visited England, but died
two years later. Mrs. Heaslip was
an adherent of the Church of England,
and was the oldest member of St.
Alban's Church, Gladstone. Surviv
ing members of the family are: — Mes-
dames C. E. Pratt (Gladstone), O. J.
Bruse (Norwood), and Messrs. Herb.
Heaslip (Adelaide), and Syd. Heaslip
(Gladstone).
