MR. J. M. SANGER
The death occurred suddenly on
Tuesday evening of last week of
one of the Daysdale district's best,
known pastoralists in the person of
Mr. John Mildred Sanger, of Wan-
gamong, Daysdale. He was aged 56
years.
Mr. Sanger was the only son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Sang-
er, and a grandson of the late J. M
Sanger, who took up Wangamong in
1850. Deceased took over the prop-
erty, and also the well known
Wangamong sheep stud on the
death of his father in 1931, and
continued to breed the strain of
Merino sheep which his grand-
father had made famous.
After receiving his education a
Geelong Church of England Gram-
mar School, Mr. Sanger gained his
commission as Captain in the 56th
Bty., 2nd Division, Royal Field Ar-
tillery, and served in France in the
last war. He was twice mentioned
in despatches, and was awarded
the Military Cross.
He was interested in all district
activities and was a well known
member of the V.D.C. succeeding
Lt. Col. Clayton E. Davis as C.O
S)f that organisation in this area
In this capacity he made a host el
friends throughout these districts
all of whom received with genuine
regret the sad news of his untimely
passing. Before the war he was
well known in sporting circles in
the Corowa and Daysdale districts
He was a member of the Riverina
(Jerilderie) and Oaklands Masonic
Lodges.
Surviving members of his family
are his wife, Mary, daughter of the
late Edward Northcote, Melbourne
and two daughters, Miss Patricia
Sanger, Daysdale, and Prudence
(Mrs., J. Woolcot, Melbourne)
There are also three sisters, Mrs
Frank Austin, of 'Avalon,' Lara
Isabelle (Melbourne) and Mrs. Thos
Millear (Deniliquin).
