88094DEATHS OF OLD COLONISTS.
Kapunda, July 17.— On Monday Mr.
Archibald Balfour died at the residence of his
son-in-law, Mr. James Scandrett, somewhat
suddenly. The old gentleman, who was in
his 87th year, had been playing draughts with
Mr. William Crawford up till about 9 p.m.,
and about 10 o'clock he retired to rest, ap
parently in his usual health, which however
had not been very good of late. Just before
midnight one of Mr. Scandrett's family heard
a sound in her grandfather's room, and
on going into the room it was found
that Mr. Balfour was in a dying state.
