Mr. Oliver Treasure, who died atTumby Bay, was born in Somersetshire,England, on May 12, 1856. In 1862 hecame to South Australia with hisparents in the Star of Brunswick. Hisfather, the late Mr. Emanuel Treasure,took up land at Yankalilla, where helived for 14 years, afterwards movingto Minlaton. Mr, Oliver Treasure firsttook up land on his own account atMuioowurtie. end while living there hemarried Miss Mary A. Marley. onlydaughter of the late John Marley, ofLower Finnis. In 1892 he took up landat Tooke Valley, near Maitland. wherehe lived for nearly 16 years. In 1903he soM out and bought a farm of over2,000 acres near Ungarra, on EyrePeninsula, where he carried on farmingwith his sons until he retired to TumbyBay, about three years ago. He alsoowned 2,000 acres of land in the hundred of Stokes. Mr. Treasure wasalways interested in public and socialmatters. On Yorke Peninsula he wasa local preacher of the Baptist Churchand at Ungarra he linked up with thsChurch of Christ, being one of thefoundation members. He also servedtwo terms as a councillor.
