MR. O. TREASURE

Mr. Oliver Treasure, who died at
Tumby Bay, was born in Somersetshire,
England, on May 12, 1856. In 1862 he
came to South Australia with his
parents in the Star of Brunswick. His
father, the late Mr. Emanuel Treasure,
took up land at Yankalilla, where he
lived for 14 years, afterwards moving
to Minlaton. Mr, Oliver Treasure first
took up land on his own account at
Muioowurtie. end while living there he
married Miss Mary A. Marley. only
daughter of the late John Marley, of
Lower Finnis. In 1892 he took up land
at Tooke Valley, near Maitland. where
he lived for nearly 16 years. In 1903
he soM out and bought a farm of over
2,000 acres near Ungarra, on Eyre
Peninsula, where he carried on farming
with his sons until he retired to Tumby
Bay, about three years ago. He also
owned 2,000 acres of land in the hun
dred of Stokes. Mr. Treasure was
always interested in public and social
matters. On Yorke Peninsula he was
a local preacher of the Baptist Church
and at Ungarra he linked up with ths
Church of Christ, being one of the
foundation members. He also served
two terms as a councillor. He leaves
a widow, three daughters. Mesdames
F. A. Hill, Owen; H. F. Soding, Victoria;
and A. H. Sprigg, Booleroo Centre; and
two sons. Messrs. H. W. B. and W O
E. Treasure, of Ungarra.
