92979Mr. and Mrs. John Daniel Henwood, of
Elizabeth-street, North Croydom cele-
brated the fiftieth anniversary of their
marriage on Thursday. Mr. Henwood
was born at Lostwithiel, Cornwall, and
he is 77 years old. When 22 years of age
he left the old oonntry for Victoria. With-
in a month of landing he came to South
Australia, and for nine years was em-
ployed at the Burra mine. He married
Miss Ellen Wearne Sullivan, only daugh-
ter of the late Mr Timothy Sullivan, at
St. Mary's Church. Kooringa, on June 22,
1861, and later, with his wife and three
children, went to Victoria. After six
years he returned to this State, and re-
sided at Moonta for 12 years. Since then
Mr. Henwood and his wife have lived at
Kadina. Adelaide, Broken Hill, and Hind-
marsh. They have three daughters - Mrs.
R. Williams, of Bowden: and Mrs. W. C.
Bice and Mrs. S. M. McLeish, of North
Croydon. There are three grand-chil-
dren.
