Mr. M. Kilmartin, Mrs. L. Lovegrove.
Gradually the old pioneers of Strathalbyn
are joining the great majority. During
last week two of the oldest identi-
ties of the town in the persons of Mr
Michael Kilmartin and Mrs. L. Lovegrove
more widely known as Mrs, Keough, suc-
cumbed to long illnesses. Mr. Kilmartin
who was 82 years of age, arrived in Strath-
albyn in the early fifties, and was for many
vears a valued employe of the Road Board.
He then engaged in contracting, and by
dint of industry and honesty scoured for
himself an independence. A family of live
sons and two daughters survive. Mrs.
Lovegrove was the relict of Mr. James
Keough. who died 30 years ago, and was one
of the finest whips in the State. He was,
with Mr. Sampson Hall, well known as one
of the old coachdrivers. The deceased has
left two sous and two daughters
